Review of Dell Vostro V131 Notebook

Dell Vostro V131 comes with 2nd Generation core i5 Processors and boasts a capable of delivering up to 9.5 hours of continuous work. Intel HD 2000 graphics, LED display 13.3-inch HD (1366 x 768 pixels), HDD 320 GB, Microsoft Starter 2010, and Windows 7 Professional and DDR3 memory up to 4 GB. Common features includes Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 3.0, HD webcam, fingerprint reader, backlit keyboard, 2 USB 3.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0, HDMI, VGA, and a 6-cell battery.
The Vostro V131 almost looks exactly like its predecessor. The concept of enclosing metal components still makes for a high recognition value. But the Vostro V131 can’t only score with its looks and feel, the stability also benefits from the surrounding metal parts. Both the display lid and the base unit’s bottom cope well with selective pressure. Possible warping is kept within HP Compaq Business Notebook NC6400 battery limits on both parts. However, the Vostro has to admit clear defeat, for example, in face of the Apple MacBook Air 13 that was also in our office at the time of the review - and that although the Air is only half as thick as the Vostro.

The Vostro V131 is ideal for everyday office operations like document editing, presentations and e-mail, and also provides impressive collaboration options thanks to a full HD camera, digital array mics and support for Intel’s WiDi. USB 3.0 support will also come in useful for digital content producers as it supports transfer rates 10 times the speed of USB 2.0, and the backlight chiclet keyboard and quick launch keys are noteworthy usability enhancements. We’d also like to commend Dell for HP Compaq Business Notebook 6710s battery the large touchpad and soft-touch mouse buttons¯the latter of which are silent when pressed. It won’t win any design awards, nor is it as rugged as a Dell Latitude, but the Vostro V131 is a feature-rich laptop for small-business
users wanting high performance without sacrificing portability and data security.
In term of it’s connectivity, the 13.3 inches of Vostro V131 equipped with the most recent specs, for instance having a 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth v3.0 + High Speed, Gigabit Ethernet, two USB 3.0 ports, a hybrid USB 2.0/eSATA connector and of course a HDMI port, so you can easily connect this machine with the much bigger monitor. Dell V131 business notebook also comes by an optional of 3G or 4G connectivity of mobile broadband and support Intel WiDi for stream your content with the other Intel WiDi-enabled machine.
The V131′s framework is usually as intemperate as which of a Dell Latitude laptop. Its Aberdeen Silver enclosing is done of magnesium—a clever steel that’s additionally Toshiba Satellite A130 battery used in enterprise-class laptops similar to a Dell Latitude E6420 ($1,788 direct, 4 stars) as good as Lenovo ThinkPad X220. Press a palm of your palm upon tip of a lid, as good as you’ll find which a V131 hold firmer than a aluminum-based HP Probook 5330m ($899.99 direct, 3.5 stars). At thirteen by 9.1 by 0.8 inches (HWD), it’s about as skinny as a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 ($1,499 direct, 3.5 stars) as good as HP 5330m—all of which, similar to a V131, miss an visual drive. The large 65WH gives a V131 a slight lift from a back, nonetheless not as high of a slant as a Dell 3350′s 8-cell battery. Its four-pound support falls in in between a Lenovo X1 (3.7 pounds) as good as Dell 3350 (4.8 pounds).
The V131’s $800 price for our test configuration looks even better when you consider that the V131 runs the professional version of Windows 7. Microsoft Office 2010 Starter is on hand, and as is the norm with Vostro machines, you’ll find a relatively junk-free software array–just a few useful utilities and Trend Micro’s Security Agent trial. The Dell webcam application is one of the better examples you’ll see, and digitalPersona is included to take care of the software end of the biometrics.
While the Dell Vostro V131 is not going to be a gaming powerhouse at any time (Facebook and other casual games are fine), that is because this is an office-centric laptop Toshiba Satellite A135 battery, where it is suited for everyday office operations such as document editing, presentations and email. Of course, you will also have the advantage of a built-in full HD camera for video conferencing purposes, SRS Premium Voice Pro, digital array mics and built-in Skype. With a couple of USB 3.0 ports, this is one future-forward machine – and the chiclet keyboard with a backlit option certainly suits those who love working late into the night.
Not enough, the Dell V131 also offers software services and solutions that enhance productivity and data security To protect your data or notebook, the Dell V131 feature an optional Absolute LoJack for tracking stolen machines at the show, fingerprint reader, a free fall sensor. for HDD, Backup and Recovery Manager software and Dell DataSafe Online automated data storage back-ups of up to 2GB.
The Dell V131 notebook also powered with 4-cell Lithium Ion battery provide up to 9.5hrs of battery life and can be upgraded to 6 cell Lithium Ion, the new Dell Vostro series perfect for your daily activity in your office or home. “We designed the Vostro V131 to deliver fast, uninterrupted multitasking for Toshiba Satellite Pro M70 battery today’s business challenges,” said Sam Burd, vice president of Dell’s Consumer & SMB Product Group.
V130 was not a model, which has a contrast ratio up to 144:1. The V131 is not much better: 165:1 to black value of 1.12 cd/m2. These figures are also likely to be responsible for our only moderate overall subjective impression of the color reproduction. This is just a small problem with office tasks, but the media is suffering from a case.
Pros
Powerful standard-voltage Core i5 CPU. Excellent battery life. Excellent keyboard. Two USB 3.0 ports. Fast spinning hard drive.
Cons
Subpar gaming scores from integrated graphics. No backlit keyboard.
Bottom Line
Thanks to an Intel Core i5 processor and 8-hour battery, the Dell Vostro V131 small-business laptop has most of the features, power, and battery life of its enterprise-oriented counterparts, yet it won’t cost you nearly as much.
The Dell Vostro V series has been that way for us for well over a year now. The last model we reviewed, the slim Vostro V130, looked like it might be the perfect Sony VAIO VGN-G3 battery slim 13-inch laptop, hiding in the form of a small business computer…except that had a battery life that was far too short, and a low-voltage processor that wasn’t fast, either. It was well-designed, however, solidly built, and surprisingly affordable.
Dell Vostro V131 storage use 500 GB hard drive (there is option to has bigger storage). Other features you may get in Dell Vostro 3350 are: two USB 3.0 ports which supports transfer rates 10 times the speed of USB 2.0, HDMI port, multimedia card slot, VGA, and Webcam. Networking connection suplied are Ethernet, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth, and optional 3G Mobile Broadband (with GSM or CDMA technologies).
Dell Vostro V131 is available free in some websites. For those of you who want to get this one notebook, you have to spend quite a lot. Because Dell Vostro V131 price with specifications as low as $ 499.
